Dublin LUAS update

Special correspondant, Frank Bagshaw, has sent the following report.
In Dublin; the LUAS Green Line Cherrywood extension from Sandyford opened this past weekend. I joined the thousands of Dubliners taking advantage of the free rides. The extension crosses the M50 motorway twice and serves the smart Leopardstown area and sites awaiting development. On Monday, every third tram on the Green Line ran to Brides Glen terminus , others reversed at Sandyford.

On the Red Line, I checked out the three tracked Point terminus and noted every third tram was a shortworking from Connolly to Red Cow depot. At Belgard, the new three track station is almost complete under a modern canopy. This will be the terminus of the City West shuttle due to open in 2011.
